The beaches of Marbella

 

Without a doubt the beaches of Marbella are one of the most famous and appreciated parts of the town by tourists. In its 27 km of beach, you can find ports, long and well-maintained beaches as well as a few coves. 

Although the old town is the main attraction, Marbella’s beaches are also very popular among tourists thanks to the crystal clear water. The two central beaches are Playa del Faro and Playa del Cable.

 

About 4 km from the city center, there is a famous marina: Puerto Banús. Here it will not be difficult to find yachts and luxury sailboats owned by famous people. 



 

Plaza de la Iglesia

 

Another stop in the Spanish town is the square where the cathedral of Marbella stands: The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, built between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

The church is quite small but inside there are chapels and statues of great value particularlythe high altar is a blaze of beauty and splendour. Outside, there is rococo style stone portal

The quiet square with benches and green areas is ideal for a pleasant stop during your visit to the historic center of Marbella.

 

Paseo Maritimo

 

If you are looking for a place for a romantic evening or a walk, then Paseo Maritimo is the perfect place for you. The promenade of Marbella extends for about 7 km from Puerto Deportivo to Puerto Banús. As you walk along the avenue on hot summer evenings, there will be no shortage of musicians and street artists to give you an even more evocativeatmosphere. Here you will also find restaurants and bars where you can eat typical dishes like tapas, sip a drink, shop in the boutiques, or just admire the sea from your bike.  

Walking along the seashore, it is possible to catch the sight of Marbella lighthouse and enjoy the priceless natural spectacle of Gibraltar and the African coast far into the horizon. 


Antiguo Helmet and Plaza de los Naranjos

 

If you stay in the vicinity of Marbella you can't miss a visit to the delightful old town, also called Casco Antiguo. The town effortlessly blends happening nightlife along with elegant traditional spots steeped in history and is surrounded by the remains of ancient Arabic walls. Here you can find restaurants, stores, typical Andalusian houses and charming alleys. 

 

In the heart of the old town is Plaza de los Naranjos, famous for the smell of its orange trees that give the square its name. Do not forget that in this very square stands the oldest church in Marbella, the Ermita de Santiago. 



 

Parque Arroyo de la Represa and Bonsai Museum

 

Towards the north-east of the town, there are the gardens called de la Represa, ideal for those who love to take walks in the greenery, especially if you have small children. Inside the park, there is a bridge called "Ponte dei Tiranti", a modern construction that attracts many tourists

The park is also perfect for those who are fond of greenery and harbour a special love for plants and greenery. Inside, there is the Bonsai Museum that showcases many of the ancient and fascinating art from Japan
