Soak up the magic of European music tradition at Notte della Taranta, the largest festival in Italy!
Rediscover traditional music and arts at the largest festival in Italy, La Notte della Taranta. First established in 1998, the festival takes place in the gorgeous setting of Salento and is dedicated to rediscovering and promoting traditional Salento music.
Over
the course of fifteen years, it has grown tremendously in terms of size,
attendance, and cultural prestige, merging Pizzica music with other
musical genres such as world music, rock, jazz, and symphonic music. Its unique
final "Concertone" in Melpignano, alone attracts around 150,000 spectators,
with tens of thousands more attending the dress rehearsal the day before.
Over the years, several Guest Conductors have contributed to the growth of La Notte della Taranta, often continuing to collaborate with the Popular Orchestra that has hosted and collaborated with prominent artists such as Luciano Ligabue, Lucio Dalla, Francesco De Gregori, Gianna Nannini and many others. This year the Concertone host is going to be the Italian singer-song writer Fiorella Mannoia!
