The cable cars operating around the lake which take you to greater altitude on Monte Rosa offer incredible vantage points to enjoy the settings.



Explore the lake towns and villages: The beautiful lake towns on the shore of Lake Maggiore are known for their peaceful atmosphere and picturesque settings. These lake towns are also known for the various sites of historical and archaeological importance. The numerous colourful patrician houses, churches and castles offer tourists plenty of places to visit and learn about the history of the region. Some of the major towns, such as Stresa, Verbania, Locarno and Arona offer good opportunities to shop and dine in the pleasant climate of autumn. Villages, on the other hand, offer a glimpse of native lifestyle. The best way to explore these villages is on a biking or hiking trail. But they are also accessible by easier means of transport such as ferry, bus, train and cable car services. The lack of heavy traffic means it is easy to navigate around these places.
