From olive groves and vineyards to stalactites and stalagmites or even a lazy day at the beach – this gorgeous retreat in rural Slovenia is within reach of it all. Peacefully situated on a working farm near the border with Croatia, this charming, stone-built apartment sleeps 4 guests. The property enjoys an incredible view of the surrounding olive groves and benefits from a generous balcony that’s set up for alfresco dining. Guests can pre-order a home-cooked meal from the hosts and try local dishes made from homegrown ingredients. Visitors can also shop for olive oil, vegetables, meat, jam and fresh fruit for home cooking. In the garden, there is a shared brick grill, an outdoor dining space, a paved garden amongst the olive trees and a children's playground including; a swing, climbing frame and basketball hoops. There is even a selection of domestic animals to make friends with including; chickens, donkeys, ponies and rabbits. Beyond the garden guests have access to a meadow where they can peacefully relax on a lounger, read a book or play a game with family members. Inside the apartment has a contemporary, rustic style featuring a striking wood-beamed ceiling. The main open-plan living room provides a comfortable space to relax, cook and dine after a busy day exploring. This area incorporates the kitchen and is stylishly furnished with a sofa bed, a digital flatscreen TV and a dining table. The modern kitchen is equipped with; a cooker hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge freezer. The homestead offers an excellent starting point for walks in unspoilt nature and the host will take guests in an old military vehicle (by prior agreement) through the wild valley of the Dragonja river, for a refreshing dip in the water. The village is surrounded by scenic hills and vineyards, making it a great spot for hiking, biking and nature walks. For coastal walks visitors can also visit the Strunjan Nature Reserve (a 25-minute drive). Puce has a tranquil environment typical of rural Slovenia. Olive growing and viticulture, play a significant role in the local economy and the region is known for its high-quality olive oil and wines. Visitors can head to the Posestvo Santomas wine estate (a 10-minute drive), Vinakoper, or the Organic winery Rodica (both a 20-minute drive). Those in search of culture or a lazy day at the beach should head to the historic port of Koper (a 25-minute drive). Here visitors can relax on one of the town's picturesque beaches, take scenic walks along the waterfront promenade, or explore the medieval architecture, narrow cobblestone streets and Renaissance palaces. Visitors can also explore the Škocjan Caves (a 40-minute drive), a UNESCO World Heritage Site or the Postojna Cave (a 55-minute drive), famous for its stalactites and stalagmites. The closest restaurant is a 2-minute drive from the accommodation and there is a grocery store an 8-minute drive away. The closest international airports are Aeroporto di Trieste-Friuli Venezia Giulia (TRS) in Italy, a one-hour 6-minute drive away and Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU) approximately a one-hour 30-minute drive away.
