Desenzano's postcard-perfect harbour, the Porto Vecchio, is lined with cafés and restaurants to suit all budgets. Away from the lake, the 14th-century castle - Castello Desenzano del Garda (20 minutes' walk) dominates the town. There is also a famous Roman villa with extensive mosaics and an excellent museum (13 minutes' walk).
